Merry Christmas

24 Dec

Merry Christmas! Looks like I have been neglecting our blog for sometime! Seems like I am only inspired to write when I have nothing else to do! The boys have kept me pretty busy this year. But, I had to slow down as we are adding one more Allen to the mix. This little Allen has me more tired than my two boys combined. Seeing as I can’t focus on reading and am tired of watching TV all the time, I figured you could get some of my rants again. Though I don’t know that anyone is out there anymore. But that’s ok, I won’t offend anyone if no one is reading, lol!

Well Christmas is here. Can’t say that it will be one of our better Christmas’. With me being so tired and nauseous all the time, yes even into the 2nd tri-mester, I didn’t get around to going shopping, but more important than that, I haven’t made things special for the boys. Even online shopping wasn’t working out for me. Going out to see Christmas lights was a bust. The first time both boys fell asleep, and the second time Victor fell asleep and Jonas started crying that he wanted to go home and was “tired of seeing everyone’s lights”, until we called him the Grinch, then he started crying that we shouldn’t call him names. But don’t worry after asking us to play Jingle Bells 5000 times he was a wee bit better. Well, at least Tom and I had fun. :)

And no tamale making this year for me. Again, too tired and nauseous. Today is Christmas Eve, and Tom is going to do his traditional last minute shopping. I hope he takes the boys, don’t know that I can handle them stuck in a house with me again. I am too tired to yell at them, and they somehow don’t hear me unless I am yelling. If they stay, I will be treated to wrestling, legos flying all over the house, incessant evil giggling (what are they up to?), constant requests for food, and promises of not running in the house after being asked to “GO OUTSIDE”! Oh the joys of being pregnant…

Can’t believe my baby is 4 years old! Jonas assures me he is still my baby though. Love you Jonas!

Okinawa 2010

06 Dec

We packed up the boys and flew to visit Maria’s sister and family in Okinawa for Christmas.  The boys handled the 20 hours of travel great, and no one tried to Touch our Junk ™ at Carlsbad where we cleared security in the states.

Anyone out there?

16 Aug

Hello, is anyone out there? Anyone reading this, other than those darn bots? I am tired of getting junk comments. Tom assures me that it is fine. But I am wondering if I should make this blog private…I know there are lots of crazies out there…

Anyways, if you do read this and would like updates let me know. I am the kind of person that is driven by encouragement! :) I have lots of pics to post of this summer, but if no one is reading this, I will continue to delay until I feel like posting! :) Oh and if I do go private, you will need to let me know if you want to continue to read this blog.

Happy end of summer!

A day in the life…

Nice to have a voice again!

01 Jun

Well, it’s nice to have a voice again!  It’s been approx., 6 months since I have been able to rant!  Not really sure if anyone missed my rantings.  But I know I sure did miss having somewhere to write down my crazy thoughts!   Most of it was just because we have been busy.  Well, I have been busy trying to keep up with laundry, dishes, Victor, Jonas, Tom, life!  It’s all been good things!  I am blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Life has been pretty mellow.  Jonas has kept us on our feet though.  We started off our Memorial weekend at the ER.  Jonas decided it would be fun to put his fold up chair on top of his plastic kid table and try to sit on it.  Well, not such a good idea.  He fell backwards (about 3-4 ft) and hit the back of his head on the retaining wall.  Needless to say, there was lots of blood.  Thankfully no stitches were needed and he is just fine.  But he did scare the crap out of us.  Where were we, you ask?  I was just coming out of the shower and Tom was coming around the corner from the garage.  Victor watched the whole thing and came running to his dad as soon as it happened.   Now I am just waiting to see if we get a call from CPS and waiting to see the hospital bill!  I am sure I looked like a crazy woman as I didn’t get a chance to brush my hair after my shower!  But I guess we have been pretty lucky so far in the accident department with these two boys.  Victor has been re-enacting the scene any chance he gets and has even used a stuffed animal to sit in for Jonas.   The ironic part is that Tom’s accident when he was a baby happened on the same exact day 31 years ago…

Meet the Allens V2

31 May

When we started Meet the Allens I wanted an easy way for us (read Maria) to update our friends and family with what we were up too.  Blogger from Google was easy to use and setup and the blogging software was completely hosted on google servers, meaning I didn’t have much to do to get it working.  Because I already had a web host and URL I just needed to point blogger to my host and set up a ftp account for Blogger to use.  It literally took me ten minutes to set it up.  Even better Maria was able to make the changes she wanted to without (much) help from me.

Fast forward 5 years, we get this email from google saying they are dropping the ftp feature from blogger.  I figure they are finaly moving to sftp or something a little more sevure but come to find out google went all big brother and stopped allowing non-google hosts all together.

This got me thinking what else the could do on a whim.  I googled (ironic I know) “blogger and non google hosts”  about the fourth hit was from the Search Engine Journal and then I finally read the  Blogger: Terms of Service:

  • General Practices Regarding Use and Storage. You agree that Google has no responsibility or liability for the deletion of, or the failure to store or to transmit, any Content and other communications maintained by the Service. Needless to say I installed WordPress on my hosting account.  Meet The Allens V1 is here and will be until I (not Google) move/delete/modify it.  I was also able to import all of our Blogger posts and comments into WordPress; woohoo!

Happy Anniversary! Number 6!!

19 Jan

It’s only been 6 years!! These years have given us 2 sweet little boys, 3 God-children, new views on life, and re-organization on priorities, among other things. I can’t wait to look back on this sixth year in 19 years and think how new our marriage still was! If we only knew then what we know now!! Thank you God for blessing our marriage, may we continue to build a strong foundation. Here’s to the rest of our lives!!

Happy New Year!

10 Jan

Dinner in the lounge, listening to live Jazz music!

Well I hope everyone rang in the New Year safely! Here in the Allen household the festivities continue. After a wonderful Christmas day spent with 30 of our family, we had a little bit of relaxing time. It took me about a week to recover from Christmas day! Thank goodness Tom had the week off! Victor has now started back at school, Jonas and I have signed up for a mommy and me preschool class, and Tom has gone back to the grind!

This year Tom’s company decided to move their holiday party to January. This works out well for us, as it is our anniversary month also! So we took advantage of the killer deal provided to employees and spent 2 blissful evenings at the Four Seasons Aviara. I LOVE this place!! I wish I could stay there ALL the time!! Too bad their everyday price is CRAZY! But for a weekend, we were spoiled. Fati and Heath and my mom and dad took turns watching the boys for us.

View from our room: Batiquitos Lagoon and Ocean (too much fog to see the ocean in this pic)

When we arrived at the Four Seasons they opened our doors, grabbed our luggage and showed us to the check-in desk. I let them know we were celebrating our anniversary there. So they provided us with a room that had an ocean view!! They also had champagne sent to our room!! They treated us so great there!! The beds are wonderful, so soft and cushy. We slept in and enjoyed our views from our room. Saturday evening we attended the company party and I had a blast dancing the night away, while Tom had a blast drinking the night away. Hmmm, sounds just like our wedding night!! LOL

This is how you get your paper at the Four Seasons!

Our champagne!!

Well now we are back home, and I can’t wait to be provided with an opportunity like this again! It was great to spend time with my husband and feel as if we were on a long date! I am trying to convince him that we need to renew our vows and have a reception at the Four Seasons. So far he is not going for it!! But I will continue to dream!! After all, next year we will celebrate 15 years of being together!!

Before the company party, on our balcony!

View of our cocktail hour, err I mean the company’s cocktail hour!

Sunset!

Not sure that Tom remembers this last drink!
